Abstract
Effect of ofloxacin, a new quinolone derivative, was evaluated in 24 pateints with respiratory infections. Efficacy rates were 100% in bronchiectasis and 81.2% in pneumonia with 300-600 mg oral dose for 7-11 days. Because of the risk of sepsis in overwhelming pulmonary infections, other parenteral bactericidal antibiotics were administered with combination at first, and the combination of ofloxacin an I genetamicin was followed with continuance of improvement. Any alterations in the peripheral blood counts and the serum aminotransferase levels were not found after the medication.
